Children and grandchildren (except Bedriye Kamer Tatlıcı) from the first marriage of the deceased Mehmet Salih Tatlıcı’s did not respond to the steps taken to sell part of the extensive collection of Mehmet Salih Tatlici composed of paintings and art works and to donate the income to charities in the country.
Children and grandchildren of the deceased businessman Mehmet Salih Tatlıcı’s were not content with the million dollars worth heritage that he passed on to them and they filed an action for the annulment of his official testament, and making the inventory of the estate.
We wonder if the children and grandchildren of Mehmet Salih Tatlıcı’s from his marriage do not wish any donation to be made to charities in our country through the sale of paintings and art works of his collection?
MEHMET SALIH TATLICI’S COLLECTION
Deceased businessman had special interest in paintings and art works with artistic value and turned this interest into an extensive collection throughout his life. Experts say that the total value of art works under Mehmet Salih Tatlıcı collection is assessed to be worth millions of dollars.
UGUR AND NURTEN TATLICI WISHED TO DONATE A PART OF THE COLLECTION
Nurten Tatlıcı, second wife of Mehmet Salih Tatlıcı, and their child from this marriage, Ugur Tatlıcı have taken important steps in order to sell some of the paintings in the collection of the deceased and to donate the income of them to 18 charity foundations and institutions in Turkey in the name of the deceased businessman, Mehmet Salih Tatlici. (Please see the news: “A Part of the Collection of Mehmet Salih Tatlici is being donated”)
LETTER WAS SENT TO THE OTHER HEIRS REGARDING THE DONATIONS TO CHARITIES
For this purpose, the attorney of Nurten and Uğur Tatlıcı sent a letter issued by Beşiktaş 25th Notary in Istanbul, dated on 5th March 2014 to the other heirs.
The letter offered the below proposal to children of Mehmet Salih Tatlıcı from his first marriage, Mehmet Tatlıcı, Ahmet Tatlıcı and to Salih Ziya and Bedriye Kamer Tatlıcı, (the children of deceased Ali Tatlıcı) and to Tuğba, Taha and Talha Tatlıcı, the children of Ahmet Tatlıcı:
To sell some of the paintings and artworks in Mehmet Salih Tatlıcı’s collection, being preserved in the old Pilma factory building at Istanbul, Kağıthane through a reputable auction house in the country and after deducting all taxes and expenses distributing the remaining income to inheritors according to their share in the heritage and the balance as donation to be made to charities by Nurten and Ugur Tatlıcı equal to the amount of their share …
UGUR AND NURTEN TATLICI HAVE MADE AN IMPORTANT PROPOSAL TO OTHER INHERITORS
Nurten and Uğur Tatlıcı have the primary voice regarding this extensive collection under the heritage of deceased Mehmet Salih Tatlıcı and other inheritors are not entitled to claim, buy and sell any one of the paintings under this collection.
Accordingly, Nurten and Uğur Tatlıcı are not obligated to give any one of the art works in this collection to other inheritors. So other inheritors will not have any material benefit in this collection today or in the future…
Ugur and Nurten Tatlıcı have made an important proposal to the benefit of other heirs in this letter so that they will not raise any difficulties in this project they wish to carry out just for the purpose of charitable contributions:
Ugur and Nurten Tatlıcı also offered in their proposal to make payment in cash to the other heirs in the rate of their share (18/64) in the heritage from the income that will be obtained through auction sale of some paintings and art works in the collection, if such inheritors did not wish to make any donation …
In other words, after deducting all expenses and taxes from the sale of paintings and art works, they would be making payment in cash in the rate of their share in the heritage (18/64) …
Uğur and Nurten Tatlıcı were planning to donate from their share in sales, an amount equal to share of other inheritors (18/64) to 18 charities, in equal amounts.
NOT A WORD FROM OTHER INHERITORS…
However only Bedriye Kamer Tatlıcı responded positively to this offer and she stated that she wished to be paid in cash the income to be obtained from sale of artworks.
Other inheritors did not even feel the need to respond to this donation proposal made via notary …
ANSWER IS “NO TO DONATIONS”?
Upon silence of the other inheritors to their sincere proposal, Ugur and Nurten Tatlıcı, sent another letter through their attorneys via notary and notified that: “It is acknowledged that donation proposal is not accepted by other inheritors and shall be considered as rejected”.
THE PURPOSE HERE WAS TO COMMEMORATE THE RESPECTABLE NAME OF MEHMET SALIH TATLICI
Ugur and Nurten Tatlıcı have always stated in all their speeches and the news on media that they were trying to fulfill the will of the deceased businessman, Mehmet Salih Tatlıcı: “respect humans and respect the world, listen to the needs of people”.
When our correspondents contacted them, Ugur and Nurten told us that they wish to donate the income to be obtained from the auction sale of art works in the collection of Mehmet Salih Tatlici to commemorate the respectable name of the deceased businessman.
Uğur and Nurten Tatlıcı explained that there was no materialistic expectation they had through sale of the collection, that in memory of the respectable business man, they preserve and shall continue to preserve all the art works from deceased Mehmet Salih Tatlıcı’s in their homes and at the workplaces; and that at the end of this lawsuit process, major part of the art works under the collection, which are being kept at an old factory warehouse, shall be sold and again the major part of the income obtained shall be donated to relevant charities.
However temporary injunction is placed on the heritage due to lawsuits about the heritage filed by children and grandchildren of the deceased’s first marriage and until such lawsuits are finalized, it seems impossible to sell the art works in this collection without the consent of other inheritors, even for charity purposes…
UGUR AND NURTEN TATLICI: “COLLECTION SHOULD SERVE FOR A CHARITY PURPOSE”
In fact, Uğur and Nurten Tatlıcı have made a sincere offer with all good intentions to ensure that art works in the heritage of the deceased businessman, which cannot be donated due to pending lawsuits, serves for a charity purpose not in the future, but starting from today.
However, only one heir, Bedriye Kamer Tatlıcı accepted her share to be paid for her in cash and the other heirs remained silent …
THE COLLECTION SHOULD BE TAKEN OUT OF THE DUSTY WAREHOUSE AND PUT TO GOOD USE
Uğur and Nurten Tatlıcı’s such a sincere proposal to commemorate the respectable deceased businessman Mehmet Salih Tatlıcı was so meaningful to help live the memory of the deceased, it makes one to think about the indifference of his children and grandchildren from his first marriage with the daughter of his aunt.
